Employment Dispute Insurance

Often referred to as Employment Practice Liability Insurance (EPL). Employment legislation has become a minefield for employers.

Even the best prepared employer can still find themselves exposed to potential claims from employees for issues such as unfair dismissal, discrimination or harassment.

Traditional employer legal expenses insurance policies offer only limited cover. The advice of the insurer helpline must be followed for cover to operate and many policies contain a "prospects of success" clause giving the insurer the opportunity to stop working on a claim which they deem to be unwinnable.

Employment Practice Liability Insurance offers well managed employers the opportunity to take a more commercial approach to employee disputes.

There is a requirement that the employer has a good standard of HR management and documentation and to follow their own procedures, but failure to follow the advice of a helpline does not invalidate the cover.
